The anime studio Toei Animation''s website began streaming a pilot film with a new character for the Toei Robot Girls project on Saturday. The female leads in the film are dressed as various famous robots in Toei's anime catalog. In particular, the girls are personifications of robots in the Gaiking ("Gai-chan"), Magnerobo Ga-Keen("Gacky"), and Superhuman Combat Team Baratack ("Bara-tan"). The newly added character is from the anime Planet Robot Danguard Ace.
The Toei Robot Girls project was launched two years ago to promote the various works in the studio's anime catalog. In the backstory created for the project, the Toei Robot Girls Laboratory was established to protect Earth from the threat of space invasion. The laboratory gathered the data from super robots who have protected Earth in the past, and then used that research to imbue “cute girls” with their legendary powers. Tetsuya Kawakami (Shigofumi - Letters from the Departed) designed the characters.

When I read the words.. female anthropomorphization of Gaikin, I kinda vomited. But if that other Gaiking show didn't draw too many younger audiences into the legendary series, this may be the best way. Here's a video.
