The North American video distributor AnimEigo announced on its website that its release of the police anime series You're Under Arrest will go out of print on January 31, 2012. The series is an adaptation of Kosuke Fujishima's manga series of the same name.
Previously, AnimEigo announced that several of its other titles were going out of print including Urusei Yatsura this coming September and Oh My Goddess! last year.
Section23 Films and Sentai Filmworks are now distributing the 2001 and 2007 sequel series You're Under Arrest: Fast & Furious and You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle.

Seriously, though I am surprised that AnimEigo has lasted this long, it pains me to see one of the oldest players in the game in terms of licensing, suffer so much. They were the first anime company I followed as a kid, and their catalog was incredible. It's just weird and sad that they're losing two of their best anime, You're Under Arrest and Urusei Yatsura. They'll be gone within a year, I bet. =(
