Anime News - The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Novel Sells 1 Million+

According to Animenewsnetwork, the 1st volume of the Haruhi Suzumiya light novels became the first light novel ever to reach the milestone of 1,000,000 copies sold.
Apparently Kadokawa ran an ad in the Thursday's edition of the Nihon Keizai Shimbun paper to announce that said light novel has sold over one million. Unfortunately, the ad does not display whether or not the numbers represent just Japan or worldwide.
The advertisement also noted that the overall Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series is read in 15 countries, and that the latest novel, Suzumiya Haruhi no Kyōgaku (The Surprise of Haruhi Suzumiya), has a print run of over 1.1 million volumes. Considering the novel was split across two 300-page volumes, there were actually 513,000 sets of the complete Suzumiya Haruhi no Kyōgaku novel.
The Little, Brown Books for Young Readers imprint is publishing the fifth light novel, The Rampage of Haruhi Suzumiya, in North America this month.
According to the Mainichi Shimbun paper's Mantan web site, over 16.5 million copies of the Haruhi Suzumiya books — including light novels and manga — have been published in 15 countries, including 8 million in Japan.

All I have to say is congrats to all involved with the series. That certainly shows that Haruhi is a success.
